Open Letter to Press Club Members
We need your help! Please sign up to help us make the 50th anniversary Katie Awards more successful than ever before.
Volunteers are needed to help with registration and to serve as unofficial ambassadors and tour guides November 15. If you are able to help, please email joannholt@gmail.com.
The Press Club of Dallas and Press Club Foundation, along with the Sixth Floor Museum, will host a gala reception for the 50th annual Katie Awards Saturday, November 15, from 6:30-9 p.m. The reception will be held on the seventh floor of the museum, but the $25 ticket entitles members and guests to a private tour of the Sixth Floor Museum which marks the 45th anniversary of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy on November 22, 2008.
Press Club Foundation President Cheryl Hall and board member Gloria Campos are co-chairing the Katie Awards reception, and PC board member Deborah Marine has brought in TASTE to cater a very festive reception that also includes beer and wine.
Past President Hugh Aynesworth, an award-winning journalist and author of “JFK, Breaking the News” and other books, is presenting a program that will include three well-known participants in the events following the 1963 assassination. Board member Tony Pederson, Professor and Distinguished Belo Chair of Journalism at Southern Methodist University, will then present Katie Awards to the winners of the 2008 excellence in journalism competition.
We also hope that you are planning to attend and invite your friends to attend this very special Press Club event. Remember that admission is limited to 250 people so please get your ticket requests in soon.
Many thanks,
Jo Ann Holt
Production Chair
