• The Press Club has extended the deadline for applying for the Katie Awards to Monday, Sept. 8 to ensure the most competitive possible categories. Click on KATIE AWARDS for more details.

• Please note news about the Katie submissions: The previous downloadable form contained the wrong ZIP code. The CORRECT ZIP code is 75219. The form now online has the correct ZIP code. You may download the new form or use the old form and merely correct the ZIP code. If any submissions are returned due to the wrong ZIP code, please re-submit using the CORRECT ZIP code. We apologize for the inconvenience.

• The rules regarding the Katie Awards have been clarified to indicate the fees for submissions. 

• At the Press Club’s annual meeting on Aug. 1, the newly-elected members of the board of directors was revealed.

• The Press Club of Dallas the Press Club Foundation are pleased to formally announce the return of the Katie Awards for the 50th anniversary of the Club. The deadline for submissions is Aug. 22, and the gala will take place on Nov. 15.

• The Club’s board of directors meets July 15 at 6 p.m. at KERA’s offices for the final board meeting before election of a new board. The board meeting is followed by a Meet the Candidates mixer at the Gingerman at 7 p.m.

• Club board member and Dallas Voice theater critic Arnold Wayne Jones and Dallas Observer theater critic Elaine Liner will hold a salon at Starbucks inside the Fairmont Hotel on July 23 at 7 p.m. They will discuss the mechanics of being a critic and conduct a Q&A. All are invited to attend.

• Elections for the board conclude on Aug. 1, 2008. Get your ballot — and your dues! — in on time to have a say in the Club’s leadership.

• They’re back! The Katie Awards will be presented at a gala dinner at the Sixth Floor Museum in November. Submissions are being accepted! Look here and elsewhere on this Web site for updates.
